This place is SERIOUSLY good. I stopped by here late one night, around 10:30pm. Apparently they had closed at 10, but everyone in the kitchen/a few friendly people were still hanging around -- talking, drinking, etc. They let me in, threw on some amazing pupusas of loroco and cheese, and were incredibly nice. The pupusas were seriously as good if not better than some of the best I've had in El Salvador. Clearly hand-made. Redwood City is lucky to have this place.

Very tasty food. Had the fish a la Mexicana and chicken mole. Corn tortillas were also very good. As we were leaving, two parties of Hispanic workers were coming in for lunch. A good sign. Highly recommend this place.

The food speaks for itself, it's fantastic. I don't speak Spanish well, but they welcomed me to sit down when I walked in and picked up a menu. Nice people. I saw papusas in the photos so I thought it was an El Salvadorian restaurant, but on the sign it says "La Roca Mexican Restaurant", and the chef confirmed it was a Mexican menu. I was served chips, really good salsa, and ice water when I sat down. I was inspired to eat here by a photo of "carne asada con camarons", I didn't see it on the menu, but they had no problem making it for me. Carne asada plate was $20, shrimp were $8 when the bill came. Carne asada was thin and had a nice char, really tasty. Shrimp were plump, perfectly done, and had the nice grill crispies on them. Beans and rice were great. Choice of tortillas, I got flour, they were fine, I think 4+ came with the plate. It was a lot of food!

I was doing my laundry next door and wandered over to see the menu. Chilaquiles being my most favorite healthy food in the universe, I consider myself a connessueir of saucy chips. Aside from my delicious chilaquiles, the atmosphere on this very hot day was cool and inviting inside. The walls were painted a beautiful dappled orange and the art on those walls was cheerful and tropical. I wished to be transported back to Nayarit as sipped the most cold delicious sweet red drink that I can never spell or pronounce properly. Mexican restaurants might shy away from making very pale, very awkward people like myself as spicy as they normally prepare dishes like Chilaquiles, so I do use a generous dousing of Tapatio on mine, but aside from that the dish was absolutely perfect. The cashier was extremely forgiving of my clumsy attempt at ordering in Spanish and I was so grateful for his bit of English helping me along. 5 stars. I will do laundry next door and eat Chilaquiles here again and again!
